App Perícias – Ensuring Field Inspections for Proagro Insurance

A mobile app developed for financial institutions to verify that field inspectors conduct on-site technical visits, critical for validating and approving Proagro insurance coverage claims. By leveraging geolocation and photo verification, the app reduces fraud and increases transparency in the process.
Problem & Context

The Proagro insurance program, designed to support farmers in case of losses, faced a significant issue with fraud. False claims diverted critical resources, threatening the program’s integrity and undermining trust.

A directive from the Central Bank of Brazil required financial institutions to implement technological solutions to ensure that field inspectors physically conducted technical visits, thereby reducing fraud.

Summary of my role

Expanded on initial research by mapping user needs through interviews with inspectors and stakeholders.

Designed wireframes for the MVP and validated them with the team.

Developed the final app design, aligning with the visual identity of the web software used for Proagro operations.

Conducted usability testing with inspectors, creating test scripts, applying feedback, and iterating on the app’s functionality.

Solution & Features

Core Functionality: inspectors receive and accept assignments from financial institutions via email, with assignments synced to the app.

Inspectors capture three required photos per the MCR standards: affected crops, farmer with their enterprise, collected sample.

Geolocation data embedded in photos confirms that the inspection was conducted on-site.

Additional features

Inspectors can indicate the need for a second visit.

Enhanced filters for managing reports within the app.

Research & Design process

Initial research: built upon data provided by the Product Manager and conducted additional mapping and interviews with inspectors to identify pain points.

Wireframe and prototype: created and validated an MVP wireframe that addressed key needs, ensuring simplicity and efficiency for inspectors.

Semantic panel: developed the visual identity of the app, harmonized with the web software used for Proagro operations.

Testing & Iteration: designed and executed usability tests with field inspectors.

Incorporated feedback to enhance app filters and functionality, followed by revalidation.
